Divesting from fossil fuel investments is not a radical act. It is not even a political act. It is simply a rational response to the growing understanding that a livable planet requires us to leave most fossil fuels in the ground. This requirement demands a "faster than business as usual" elimination of fossil fuels from our global economy, which means that companies and assets dependent on a fossil-fueled economy (i.e., buildings heated with natural gas, cars and trucks fueled by oil, and companies that provide and support them) will need to be re-tooled or replaced prior to their planned end-of-life, thereby reducing their investment value.
