Chiefs' Maclin injured his ankle, not his knee

During the third quarter of Kansas City's 30-0 win over Houston on Saturday, Jeremy Maclin, the Chiefs' top receiver, left the game after coming down awkwardly. Afterward, coach Andy Reid said indications were that Maclin had a knee strain.

On Sunday, the Chiefs announced that an MRI revealed that Maclin instead had a sprained ankle. Reid said it's too early to say whether Maclin (Kirkwood High, University of Missouri) will be able to play next Saturday, against New England.

Steelers hurting * The Pittsburgh Steelers advanced in the playoffs with their 18-16 victory Saturday night in Cincinnati in a brutally hard-hitting game in which the Bengals self-destructed with penalties in the final minute, But the Steelers paid a price.
