How does $1.86-per-gallon gas grab you?

AAA analysts say the recent precipitous decline in oil prices could translate into a nine-cent drop in gas prices.

With the average in the Bradenton-Sarasota-Venice market coming in at about $1.95 on Monday, that could translate into that $1.86 figure if trends hold.

"A global glut in oil keeps pushing oil prices lower, which makes it cheaper to produce gasoline," AAA spokesman Mark Jenkins said. "Unfortunately, gas prices could eventually rise about 50 cents between February and May, as gas supplies tighten due to seasonal refinery maintenance."

Regardless of their move in coming weeks, pump prices remain at their lowest level since 2009, AAA said. …
