- FABIAN Delph says he feels a strong bond with City fans after his 'horrific' start to life at the Etihad.

And the former Aston Villa man wants to repay the Blues faithful by representing the fans on the pitch.

Delph suffered a hamstring injury on his City debut on the club's pre-season tour and a recurrence of it when he was called up by England in September.

But despite a disjointed start to his Blues career, Delph has become a fan favourite.

"I feel quite a strong connection with the fans," he said. "I had an horrific start to my time here and it's obviously not good to come to a club and then be out injured for so long but as soon as I managed to get fit, the supporters have been unbelievable.

"I've tried to repay that by giving 100 per cent whenever I start or come off the bench. …
