JEFFERSON COUNTY > Driver strikes tree, dies * Billy D. Boyd, 25, of Farmington, was killed Thursday morning when his 2006 Honda Accord ran off Highway V and struck a tree, the Missouri Highway Patrol said. Boyd was going north about 5:10 a.m. when the crash occurred near Saddle Creek Road. He was wearing a seat belt, troopers said, and was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:25 a.m.

ST. CHARLES COUNTY > Head-on crash kills motorist * Paul A. Ehlenbeck, 42, of Wentzville, was killed in a head-on crash shortly before 6 p.m. Wednesday on Highway T, the Missouri Highway patrol said. His northbound truck crossed the center line about 1 miles south of Foristell Road and collided with an oncoming SUV. The driver of the second vehicle, Elizabeth K. Pickart, 57, of Labadie, was taken to a hospital with a minor injury, troopers said.

ST. LOUIS > Man charged in kidnapping * John F. Billingsley, 48, was charged Friday with child kidnapping for allegedly dragging a girl, 12, into a vacant house as she walked near Clay Elementary School, in the 3800 block of North 14th Street, on Jan. 8. She escaped and fled to the school.

Police said Billingsley, of the 4900 block of Rosalie Street, was a stranger to the girl, who ignored him as he asked her help finding his cellphone about 2:45 p.m. He grabbed her by the wrist and forced her into a room with several mattresses, court documents say. It was not clear how long she was there before getting away.

Bail for Billilngsley was set at $100,000. His criminal history dates to at least 1986, with convictions for first-degree assault and dealing drugs, according to court records. He was released from a Missouri prison in 2014 after a four-year sentence for violating probation on a 2009 conviction of trespassing, stealing and possession of burglary tools.
