Clausing Tosses Perfect Game at West Ridge

Brandon Clausing joined the men's 300 club while producing one of only two top-10-ranked scores by city bowlers last week.

Clausing posted the 25th men's 300 (including two by seniors) to cap a 227-194-300 -- 721 outing a week ago Monday in the BNSF League at West Ridge Lanes.

The top men's series were recorded by Jerry Gentry Jr., 269-242- 262 -- 773, and Allen Payne, 236-264-268 -- 768, in the Sunday 6 p.m. Mixer League at West Ridge Lanes.

Chelsie Bahr had the only other top-10 score, tying herself for seventh place on the women's games list during a 189-223-269 -- 681 series last Thursday in the Party Time League at Center.

Michelle Springer tossed a 263 game in the Saturday Night Live League at West Ridge.

The seniors were led by Ray Justus, 210-256-242 -- 708; Gil Moreno, 258 -- 691; and Dennis Uhl, 245 -- 687, at Center, and Cleora Cushinberry, 221 -- 560, at West Ridge.

Noah Belt, 256 -- 682, and Cheyenne Cook, 215 -- 577, had the top youth scores at West Ridge.

- The Topeka USBC Women's Bowling Association City Tournament gets underway this weekend at Gage Center, with competition Saturday and Sunday and Jan. 30-31. The entry deadline has been extended to Friday, Jan. 22. The association's annual meeting and tournament payoff will be at 2 p.m. Feb. 28 at Center.

- The entry deadline for the Kansas State USBC Women's Bowling Association Tournament is Monday, Jan. 25. Competition will take place April 9-10, 16-17, 23-34, 30 and May 1 at Junction City (team event) and Manhattan (doubles and singles).

- The Topeka USBC Bowling Association City Tournament is set for Feb. 6-7, 13 and 20-21 at West Ridge Lanes. The entry deadline is Feb. 5.

Entry forms for the tournaments are available at local centers.

- David Sewesky, of Dearborn, Mich., and Dale Gerhard, of Mill Hall, Pa., became the 27th and 28th bowlers to roll a perfect series in a span of three days this past week.

Sewesky, 27, tossed three 300 games for a 900 series on Jan. 10, while Gerhard, 59, became the oldest bowler to accomplish the feat on Jan. 12. Mark Wukoman, of Greenfield, Wis. (2006), and Joe Scarborough, of Charlotte, N.C. (2013), both were 50 years old when they shot 900.

The latest 900s are pending approval from United State Bowling Congress.
