PATERSON -- The state school construction agency owes the city school district more than $450,000 in reimbursements for projects that already have been completed, according to an auditor for the Paterson Board of Education.

The New Jersey School Development Authority acknowledged that some of the bills submitted by the district remain unpaid for projects that date to 2009.

A spokeswoman for the agency said "some additional information" is needed from the district to process the payments. Kristen MacLean, the spokeswoman, said the state agency is working with the district's facilities department to resolve the matter.

"The funds will be made available as soon as the paperwork is in, but it's my understanding that it's not a simple issue," MacLean said in an email, adding that there is a "potential dispute" between the district and a contractor on a major project. …
