Brassard out

Slumping center Derick Brassard (flu symptoms) missed his first game of the season as he is one of several Rangers dealing with illness.

"His case is a little bit worse," coach Alain Vigneault said.

Brassard has 15 goals and 16 assists in 45 games - he was tied for second on the team in points entering the game - but is scoreless in his last three games and has just two goals and one assist in his last nine.

Etem returns

Emerson Etem played his fifth game with the Canucks since being acquired from the Rangers on Jan. 8 after an underwhelming run on Broadway. Etem, 23, obtained in the off-season from the Ducks for Carl Hagelin - also since traded to the Penguins - had three assists in 19 games for the Rangers and was never able to play his way into a consistent role. …
