THE last time Manchester Magic were at Sheffield's EIS for a showpiece event, they were denied the services of star player Ellis Cooper and came home empty-handed.

Tomorrow, they are back there again to defend the National Cup against Worthing Thunder and American Cooper is fired up and ready to go.

The NBL1 player of the year helped Magic to a Cup and Trophy double last season but was ruled out of the play-off final at the last minute as part of a Home Office clampdown over players' visas.

Kent denied Magic a treble and coach Paul Middleton is keen to avoid another disappointment - and retain the cup.

"Ellis is particularly up for it," he said. "It's a return to the building where he had some real disappointment so he'll feel like he has a bit of a point to prove. …
