Students Create 150bowls for Animals at Shelter Pottery Class, Club Craft Donations

Hand-made ceramic bowls are being shaped, thrown, fired and glazed by students at North Hills High School for the benefit of the homeless dogs, cats and rabbits at the Western Pennsylvania Humane Society.

Members of the school's Pottery Club and the pottery 1 class have made 150 bowls in sizes suitable for a wide array of animals, from big dogs to little rabbits.

In the past, students have donated their pottery to other local organizations, such as the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank or Just Harvest.

Their teacher, Rachel Horner, said students were looking to do something "different" with the bowls this year.

The bowls will be delivered to the North Side shelter next week.

Some of the bowls will be given to people who adopt a dog, cat or rabbit from the shelter. …
