St. Louis Aldermanic President Asks NFL to Pay for Edward Jones Dome Debt

ST. LOUIS * Board of Aldermen President Lewis Reed says the NFL can make up with St. Louis by paying off the football stadium that once housed the Rams.

Reed issued a letter on Friday asking the NFL to pay for the rest of the Edward Jones Dome debt, which is about $100 million.

"In leaving St. Louis, the NFL leaves the best sports city in America holding the bag on millions in unfunded obligations on the dome that it enjoyed for two decades a dome that was intended to host the league for the life of the 30 year lease agreement," Reed wrote.

Reed added: "It is in light of the burdens this relocation places on the City of St. Louis, and with an interest in remediating relations between the local fan base and the NFL, that I am requesting a supplemental allocation from the NFL on the outstanding Edward Jones Dome debt. …
