Two popular festivals will return to Topeka this year.

The Kansas Burlesque Festival, featuring an exotic cabaret-style show, will take place at 8 p.m. March 5 at the Downtown Ramada Hotel & Convention Center, 420 S.E. 6th. The event will include more than a dozen performances, burlesque-style photo sessions and burlesque dance classes.

"The first Kansas Burlesque Festival in October was so much fun," said Rosa Cavazos, tourism development manager for Visit Topeka Inc. "We had a great mix of both local and out-of-town attendees who really enjoyed the performance. This is a truly unique event that attracts great talent."

The Capital City Family and Food Truck Festival on June 11 at Gage Park will feature more than 20 food trucks and a range of family activities.

Feedback from the public after the previous festival indicated that people wanted the event to become a larger family affair. …
