2,500 Petrol Heads Get Revved Up over Pounds 15m Worth of Cars ; ?Drivers Descend on Supermarket to Show off Motors Including a Rolls and 'Back to the Future' DeLorean

MORE than 2,500 petrol heads descended on a supermarket car park to show off their motors worth an estimated total of Pounds 15m.

The vehicles included a Back to the Future-style DeLorean and a Rolls Royce Phantom as well as a host of other fast and pimped-up motors . Their owners met at Tesco Express on Huddersfield Road in Oldham for the event organised by 2Rude2Cruise.

Footage of the meet was posted on social media which showed police at the scene, but those behind the event said officers had been told about it in advance, and had come down to check on things because of the sheer volume of people who turned out.

They explained the event was due to take place outside Matalan on Alexandra Retail Park from 9pm, and that permission had been given to use the car park.

Organiser Ray Mir said they only expected around 300 cars, and had to make a last-minute move to Tesco when hundreds more started to arrive. Police attended the event as the number of people attending caused traffic chaos in the area. One piece of footage shows the police cars being surrounded by hundreds of car enthusiasts and struggling to get through the cars. At one point, an officer is seen to push a man away from him while the crowds cheer. Ray, who arrived at the meeting himself on a motocross bike, emphasised that 'idiots' being stupid or pulling stunts with the cars were made to leave. …
