KEVIN de Bruyne has handed City a major blow after being ruled out until April.

The Blues midfielder revealed he will be out of action for ten weeks with the injury sustained against Everton.

While a scan revealed that he has torn ligaments in his knee and ankle, it had been initially expected that the Belgian would be missing for six weeks.

But having seen a specialist, De Bruyne confirmed a lengthier layoff.

The latest diagnosis puts hims out of the Capital One Cup final against Liverpool, as well as both Champions League matches against Dynamo Kiev.

The news has come as a crushing blow to De Bruyne, who had been cheerfully predicting that the injury was just a sprain and expressed hopes he would be back in time to play at Wembley.

"I know my ankle is sprained - it's my knee mostly but I sprained my ankle," he said, before absolving Ramiro Funes Mori, under whose challenge he went down, of any blame. …
