Swinton Lions Make Double Signing before New Season

SWINTON Lions boss John Duffy has been handed a double boost ahead of the start of the Championship season with the signing of former Leeds Rhinos hooker Liam Hood and the return of Macauley Hallett.

Bradford-born Hood spent the 2015 season with Salford Red Devils, making 22 Super League appearances. He also spent time on loan with Dewsbury Rams and Hunslet Hawks in previous seasons.

The 24-year-old moved to Australia when his time with the Red Devils came to an end and had intended to test himself in the Queensland League Down Under. However, he has now decided to return to the UK and has linked up with the Lions prior to the Championship season.

And if Hood's Super League experience is to provide a welcome boost to Swinton as the club looks to build on last year's promotion from League One, the same is also true of centre Hallett who returns after a trial with Huddersfield Giants. …
