Jumping in at the Deep End ; MARION MCMULLEN Finds out Why Westlife's Brian McFadden, Former EastEnder Louisa Lytton and Made in Chelsea's Mark-Francis Vandelli Are Preparing to Hurtle Down the Slopes of the Austrian Alps as Adrenaline-Charged Series the Jump Returns

Article excerpt

Why did you sign up for The Jump? BRIAN MCFADDEN: I've watched it every year and it just looks really exciting and competitive. I know a few people who have done it who said that they had the time of their life and you've got to do it.

LOUISA LYTTON: It's a new challenge and I love a challenge, I have never skied before and I love an adventure!

MARK-FRANCIS VANDELLI: I do go skiing every year but my skiing consists of sitting at the top of the mountain drinking, eating and tanning so I thought that maybe this is the opportunity to really give skiing a shot. Since everyone I know skis so well perhaps it's time for me to actually try getting on the snow rather than just on the sunbed.

Can you ski? BRIAN: I can ski at a very beginner level. I've been a couple of times. What I learnt though I learnt very fast so I'm a quick learner when it comes to skiing.

MARK-FRANCIS: I went to a school where I spent half of my year in Knightsbridge and half in Switzerland and my parents would never let me ski when I was in Switzerland because they were too afraid that I would hurt myself. They always hated the mountains, hated the snow, they hate the cold and so that rubbed off on me to a degree.

Which event are you most looking forward to? BRIAN: The skeleton because I'm a bit of a speed freak so anything with speed and pace I'll be looking forward to.

LOUISA: No idea, I think once I get there and start training I'll have more of an idea as to what I enjoy and what I'm most afraid of. MARK-FRANCIS: I have no idea what the events are and I don't want to know. All I know is that I'm going to learn to ski.

Are you competitive? BRIAN: Very. I want to win. I only entered to win it, not to come second or third. I came to win. LOUISA: I'll soon see! I was definitely competitive during Strictly Come Dancing. I think on all these shows you start off with less pressure on yourself and, as time goes on, you're having so much fun that you really want to stay. MARK-FRANCIS: Of course I'm competitive, everyone's competitive, especially when you're in a competition that's being televised.
