Phoenix Need Pounds 80k to Survive the Season ; Sheldan Keay

MANCHESTER Phoenix owner Neil Morris says the club needs to raise another Pounds 80,000 to see out the remainder of the season.

Phoenix are in action tonight when they take on Milton Keynes Lightning, before hosting Basingstoke Bison tomorrow.

They have struggled with finances recently, and Morris knows just how vital the next few months are.

"The sponsors and I have covered a lot of January but we will still need to raise about another Pounds 80k to see us to the end of the season," he said.

"We intend to try to sell Pounds 50k worth of shares in the holding company behind the Phoenix and we think we can raise another Pounds 10k a month from the gate and sundries.

"That will leave a shortfall of about Pounds 10k, which we have asked our season ticket holders to please pay for the last game in each month for January, February and March. …
