Tributes as 'Extraordinary' Actor Finlay Dies Aged 89

TRIBUTES have been paid to Frank Finlay, the Oscar-nominated actor from Bolton, who has died aged 89.

Finlay, who starred in a wide range of productions from Othello to Blackadder, was hailed 'an astonishing actor' with a 'wonderfully fiery presence on stage and screen'.

He passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, according to website frankfinlay.net.

Tributes have poured in for the 'amazing storyteller' from Farnworth, who worked with the likes of Sir Laurence Olivier, Oliver Reed and Dame Maggie Smith.

On hearing of his death, comedian and Coronation Street actor Les Dennis tweeted: "Saw Frank Finlay on stage in Saturday Sunday Monday. Extraordinary actor. RIP."

Bond legend Sir Roger Moore posted: "Frank was a great co-star in The Wild Geese. …
