Man Accused of Dealing Fatal Heroin Dose to St. Louis County Official's Nephew

ST. LOUIS * A man from St. Charles County has been indicted on a federal drug charge linked to the death of St. Louis County Executive Steve Stenger's nephew in 2014.

David Bollinger, 25, was indicted late Wednesday on one felony count of knowingly and intentionally distributing heroin on Dec. 3, 2014, in St. Charles County.

Stenger's nephew, Mitch Stenger, 23, died on Dec. 4, 2014, after a long battle with addiction.

U.S. Attorney Richard Callahan confirmed Thursday that the allegation in the indictment was connected to Stenger's death.

Lawyer Scott Rosenblum said that Bollinger was making arrangements to turn himself in. "We just have to wait and see what the evidence looks like," he said.

Rosenblum said Bollinger and Stenger "were incredibly close friends and Mr. Bollinger has completely turned his life around. …
