BridgeValley Community and Technical College President Jo Harris announced her retirement Friday.

During a college Board of Governors meeting, Harris said she'll step down in July.

Harris has led the college for 12 years and helped oversee the consolidation of Bridgemont and Kanawha Valley Community and Technical colleges. Harris was president of Bridgemont.

Bridgemont and Kanawha Valley were based in Montgomery and South Charleston, respectively. Since merging, the college maintains a presence at both sites.

During her time with the college, Harris was part of improving manufacturing, energy, information technology and construction programs. She also oversaw the opening of the college's Advanced Technology Center in South Charleston and helped facilitated a partnership with Toyota, which the building is now named after. …
