The Cranberry congregation of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is holding a series of events and tours to mark the opening of its new church at Rochester and Powell roads.

The open house sessions will be held April 12 through 17.

"We are excited to open the doors of this beautiful meetinghouse to the community," said Brad Agle, of Cranberry, bishop of the congregation.

The 16,000-square-foot meetinghouse will serve nearly 500 Latter- day Saints who live in Cranberry, Seven Fields, Zelienople and the surrounding area.

The church consists of a chapel that seats about 300, a hall for sports and cultural arts activities, a family history suite with a records collection that's open to the public, 15 classrooms and three offices. The church also will serve as a stake center, a regional meeting place for the members of the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, North Stake, which includes congregations north of Pittsburgh and from communities east of Lisbon, Ohio, and west of Indiana, Pa. …
