LETTER: Ballot in 2016 Offers Chance for New Blood

This will be an active year politically. Super Tuesday, when several southern states simultaneously hold their presidential primaries, will be held March 1. The nation's voters will elect a new president on Nov. 8. Some municipalities in Alabama will conduct elections on Aug. 23.

People are frustrated with the performance of our local, state and national elected officials. Voters are not content with the "old guard" and they seek new leadership -- from Congress in Washington, D. C., to their local city halls. The ballot in 2016 gives voters the opportunity to usher in new "political blood" nationwide. A political overhaul is past due for some public offices. The ballot gives voters clout.

Some cities need progressive youth leadership in their mayors' offices, and on their city councils. …
