Kolter Buys 444 Acres in Parrish

PARRISH -- Real estate developer The Kolter Group just paid $6.8 million for a 444-acre tract of farmland near Interstate 75, where it plans 1,103 homes.

The project, approved by the Manatee County Commission last year despite objections by Parrish residents, also includes 100,000 square feet of retail.

The land, with more than a mile of frontage along Interstate 75, is vacant except for a farm and cell tower.

Kolter plans to build 803 single-family homes and 300 multi- family units on the land south of 69th Street and east of I-75.

"This is prime land," said Ashley Barrett Bloom, one of three SVN Florida advisers who coordinated the sale. "The buyers are going to develop residential lots for several homebuilders."

In a split vote, Manatee commissioners approved the project called Trevesta even though the Planning Commission recommended denial and hundreds of residents in nearby areas signed a petition opposing it. …
