What do you think of when you hear the name "Alexander Hamilton?

Do you think of a dull history book, men in powdered wigs and a $10 bill? What about rap battles, catchy songs and a Broadway stage? Thanks to the new Broadway hit musical "Hamilton, this founding father is generating a lot of new buzz. The musical follows the engaging life story of Alexander Hamilton from immigrating to the United States at a young age to his bloody duel with Aaron Burr.

Lin-Manuel Miranda, who wrote the music, lyrics and book, said he was inspired to write it after reading Ron Chernow's biography of Hamilton over a holiday. Amazed that no one had ever thought to bring Hamilton's story to the stage, Miranda immediately set to work. It took him six years to complete.

The musical incorporates all different genres of music. Each song tells its own story and helps to further the plot with the use of rap.

Yes, you read that right.

"Hamilton characters, including founding fathers George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Hamilton himself, rap.

In fact, a highlight of the show includes a rap battle between Jefferson and Hamiltion, trying to win over George Washington.

The musical is insanely inventive and creative, combining things that you never would have dreamed of, and yet, it works.

"Hamilton has taken the world by storm, drawing immense crowds and becoming somewhat of a phenomenon on Broadway and all over New York City. The ticket sales are through the roof, literally. It's nearly impossible to get a seat to the show until the fall.

Released September 2015, the cast's album debuted at No. 12 on the Billboard album charts. It eventually reached the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Rap Albums chart. The original cast album, which is available on most music platforms, is set up in a way that by listening to the whole thing in order, you can get the entire story.

The show already won numerous categories at the Drama Desk Awards, including Outstanding Musical, Outstanding Lyrics and Outstanding Director of a musical. And it will no doubt win many more at the upcoming Tony Awards, which takes place later this year.
