Fort Lee Man Indicted over Threatening Letters

A Fort Lee man was indicted this week on 60 counts involving harassment, stalking, giving false information to police and threatening residents and officials in Bergen, Passaic and Sussex counties.

Nikolay Levinson, 32, allegedly mailed letters containing racial, sexual and threatening messages. One count describes a threat to sexually assault a woman. Another involves terrorizing a police officer and his family.

The alleged incidents occurred in Allendale, Cliffside Park, Cresskill, Dumont, Englewood Cliffs, Fort Lee, Leonia, Montvale, Ramsey, Wyckoff, Wayne and Andover.

Levinson was arrested in August after a joint investigation between the Fort Lee Police Department and the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office. They also learned that New York City police and the Baltimore Department of Public Safety and Corrections Services in Maryland had received complaints about similar letters. …
