SAN JOSE, Calif. - Of all the promises made during Greg Olsen's college recruiting process, the one put out there by then-Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer was certainly the most memorable.

"Coach Fulmer told Greg that he'd get him into contention for the Heisman Trophy, letting him start at tight end and play both ways as a pass-rushing defensive end," Chris Olsen, his father and his coach at Wayne Hills, recalled this week. "There were a few schools that wanted him as a defensive end, no question, but you could say we're pleased with the way things have turned out."

Sounds about right, considering that Greg Olsen has become a two- time Pro Bowl tight end and an NFL star with the Panthers nearly 13 years later, and now is on the verge of appearing in his first Super Bowl. …
