Tarentum Driver to Face Trial for Vehicular Homicide Crash on Rt. 28 Killed Man in '14

A Tarentum woman will stand trial on vehicular homicide and other charges in connection with the death of a man on Route 28 in July 2014.

Rachel Bailie, 25, was held for trial after a preliminary hearing Friday by District Judge Linda Zucco at City Court, Downtown, in the death of John Jaycox, 62, of Tarentum.

On July 10, 2014, Ms. Bailie's vehicle hit the rear of Mr. Jaycox's vehicle, which was parked on the right berm near the Creighton entrance to Route 28. Ms. Bailie told state police that she may have been distracted by her children.

A trooper said he could not determine whether Ms. Bailie swerved and hit Mr. Jaycox's vehicle, but a witness who was driving in the area at the same time said Ms. Bailie did not make any unusual driving movements.

The crash caused Mr. Jaycox to become quadriplegic and led to his death Feb. …
