School directors agreed Monday night to hire Adelphoi Village of Westmoreland County as an optional provider of special education services.

Currently, Auberle of McKeesport is providing services at $76 a day per student. Adelphoi says it can offer its services at $55 a day as well as provide transportation, said Superintendent Thomas Knight. Up to 18 special needs students attend East Allegheny schools, he added.

In other business, the board decided to conduct interviews for the 18 project manager applicants who hope to oversee construction of the proposed $22 million Logan Middle School. The sessions will be 6:30 to 9 p.m. April 6, 20 and 27.

The board also approved a tax payment installment plan for residents and agreed to partner with McKeesport Area School District to develop a grant-writing team. …
