Cranberry supervisors gave final approval last week to a 2005 budget that holds the property tax rate at 10.7 mills for general purposes and maintains the sewer, water and pool fees at current levels.

The $30 million budget includes allocations for a variety of projects, including $150,000 for an emergency radio system, $100,000 for engineering work on the new Graham Park and $675,000 for improvements to the sewage collection system.

For the 2004 budget, the millage was increased by 1.45 mills -- the first tax increase since 1993.

The township's fire fund will receive 2.5 mills of property tax, holding steady with 2004. Since 1988, the township has committed local tax dollars to support the acquisition and maintenance of fire equipment and facilities, though township firefighters are volunteers. …
