Policy on Videotaping Meetings Sent Back to Board Committee

The Moon Area school board may drop its plan to require advanced notification from anyone who wants to videotape a board meeting.

The proposal would have required 24-hour notice from people wishing to tape the meetings.

In February, the board delayed a final vote in order to consider the matter further, but it was expected to take action at the next regular board meeting, which is scheduled for Monday.

Instead, board President Mark Scappe said the proposal was sent back to the board's policy committee and may be addressed at the workshop meeting on March 28 -- if at all.

"It won't be discussed until at least the end of the month," Scappe said. "Nothing is on the agenda for Monday." Board solicitor Jack Cambest has said that the board was within it rights to require the 24-hour taping notice and would not be in violation of the state's Sunshine Act. …
