* The Bergen Jamboree quarterfinals are scheduled for Sunday at Fairleigh Dickinson's Rothman Center in Hackensack. The games include (3) Teaneck vs. (6) Ramsey at 2 p.m., (2) Don Bosco vs. (7) Paramus Catholic at 3:30, (4) St. Joseph vs. (5) Bergen Catholic at 5:30 and (1) Ramapo vs. (8) Pascack Hills at 7.

* The Passaic County tournament quarterfinals are scheduled for Saturday. The games include (5) Passaic Tech at (4) Wayne Valley at noon, (7) Manchester at (2) Eastside at 2, (6) Passaic Valley at (3) Kennedy at 2:30 and (8) Passaic at (1) Wayne Hills at 5.

* Cliffside Park senior Gabriel Valerio, a four-year starter who averages 15.0 points and 8.0 rebounds, surpassed 1,000 career points Feb. 2 during a 55-50 loss to Pascack Hills.

* Glen Rock posted back-to-back overtime victories over Eastern Christian and Indian Hills last week. Senior G Israel Brown's three- pointer in the final seconds of regulation forced overtime versus Indian Hills.

* Sophomore F Atiba Taylor has returned to Hackensack after transferring last season and beginning this season at Pope John. Taylor scored a team-high 15 points in Sunday's 56-46 loss to Paramus Catholic in the second round of the Bergen Jamboree. Comets coach Aaron Taylor, no relation, said the 10th-grader's change of address made him immediately eligible, as per NJSIAA transfer rules.

* After winning six games last season, Kinnelon is off to a 9-9 start and has qualified for the North 1, Group 2 tournament. Junior G Matt Stewart (13.0 ppg) and senior F Charlie Von Schalscha (10.0) are the leading scorers.

* Lyndhurst (5-11) has won four of its past six games. Senior G Pete Guerriero scored 14 of his career-high 33 points in the fourth quarter and overtime Feb. 2 as the Golden Bears beat Secaucus, 53- 50.

* NV/Demarest (8-9) heads toward this weekend's Bergen Invitational Tournament with a chance to make a run. Sophomore F Jake Runyon has averaged 9.2 points and 7.0 rebounds in his past four games as a starter. Senior F Andrew Garcia has been the team's best rebounder and defender.

* New Milford sophomore F Matt McElroy had three stellar games last week, two of which the Knights won. …
