- JESSE Lingard believes his costly miss at Newcastle last month has triggered an improvement in his finishing.

The United forward made it two goals in two games with a slick finish past Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois on Sunday to notch his fourth of the season.

Lingard, though, infuriated manager Louis van Gaal in the 3-3 draw against Newcastle, when he skied from close range with United 2- 1 ahead.

The 23-year-old has been a consistent goal threat since he returned to the first-team in October and believes the frustration of his finish at St James' Park has helped him.

"I work on it (finishing) in training and obviously after training," Lingard said.

"Especially after the Newcastle miss, I've worked hard on the training pitch and it came off today.

"He (Van Gaal) just said, 'show more composure and control, control the ball before you shoot'. …
