While other candidates have started scrapping over who among them is best suited to become Pennsylvania's next attorney general, the current occupant of the office is operating with blinders on.

Kathleen Kane, the first Democrat ever to win the elective office, doesn't seem to be paying any heed to the three potential replacements lined up from her own political party, in addition to Republican state Sen. John Rafferty of Montgomery County. The fact that so many Democrats -Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen A. Zappala Jr., Montgomery County Commissioner Josh Shapiro and Northampton County DA John Morganelli -are running is further evidence that Ms. Kane appears to be alone in thinking she can survive the crisis created by the criminal charges she faces.

Ms. Kane is continuing what appears to be a futile fight against the advancing effort to involuntarily remove her.The head of the state Senate wants his chamber to vote to kick Ms. Kane out of office, and his effort got some help last week when the state Supreme Court rejected her request to immediately reinstate her law license. …
