WestJet has increased flights to Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport less than two months after it began service.

The Sarasota-Manatee Airport Authority on Monday announced that WestJet has added a third weekly flight to and from Toronto Pearson International Airport. The bump in service is because of a strong demand for flights, airport CEO Fredrick "Rick" Piccolo said.

WestJet, a low-cost carrier, began service Dec. 18 with flights on Fridays and Sundays with a 136-seat, Boeing 737-700 aircraft.

Beginning Feb. 23, a flight also will be available on Tuesdays until the end of April.

"This is a very busy travel period for the Sarasota-Bradenton area, so we look forward welcoming the additional WestJet flights," Piccolo said. …
