South Hills Break-Ins Suspect Found in Mother's Attic

Charleston police on Wednesday arrested a man they say broke into John Adams Middle School last fall and is responsible for several South Hills break-ins. Police found Brandon Lee Lilly, 30, trying to hide from authorities in the attic of his mother's Parkwood Drive home early Wednesday afternoon, said Lt. Steve Cooper, chief of detectives for the Charleston Police Department.

Lilly is accused of breaking into the school on Oct. 18 and stealing electronics, according to a criminal complaint.

He's also accused of using stolen debit cards and checks related to the break-ins.

Lilly was arraigned Wednesday in Kanawha County Magistrate Court on charges of breaking and entering, three counts of forgery, four counts of uttering and three counts of fraud with an access device.

Cooper said Lilly likely will face more charges.

"We've got some car break-ins coming his way and we have more fingerprint evidence and video surveillance evidence," Cooper said. …
