Police Raid Suspected Gambling Houses

Two men turned themselves in to police Wednesday afternoon after warrants were issued for their arrests following raids on suspected gambling houses in Tuscaloosa.

Danny Charles Carter Jr., 36, and Sean Carter Holliday, 42, both of Tuscaloosa, are charged with promoting gambling. They were booked at the Tuscaloosa County Jail and had their bonds set at $500 each.

Police said they are still seeking Henry Lee Taggart, 64, and Charlie Blount Jr., 59, both of Tuscaloosa. Both men have warrants for their arrest for promoting gambling.

The arrests and outstanding warrants stem from a joint investigation into illegal alcohol sales and gambling operations in Tuscaloosa County.

On Friday, law enforcement officers seized 170 containers of beer, several bottles of liquor, tobacco, snack foods, a stolen handgun and cash from a residence in Crescent East Apartments in the 200 block of 49th Avenue East, said TPD spokeswoman Lt. …
