When will the politicians begin to get it that Pennsylvanians are overtaxed?

This is in reference to "Rendell, GOP meet on transit" (Jan. 11).

I am a lifelong resident and taxpayer in Allegheny County and a licensed driver. I'm tired of paying the increased taxes for mass transit in other parts of the state when there is no way many of us will ever have the need or opportunity to use it. I purchase my automobiles, maintain them, pay all the necessary fees, pay for gasoline, and do not want excess financial burdens placed upon me for something I can't even use.

It is my understanding that both Port Authority of Allegheny County and Southeastern Pennsylvania Transit Authority are facing significant budget deficits and these politicians want to propose another gasoline tax increase as a long-term solution. …
