Norman Leaves Cape Central for Lindbergh

Nathan Norman is no longer a pariah to his friends and family.

On Tuesday night, the 37-year-old Norman was approved by the Lindbergh Schools Board of Education to be the next football coach at Lindbergh High.

A 1996 Jackson graduate, Norman spent the past six years, five as head coach, with blood rival Cape Central. Norman once again is welcome at family functions.

"I'm no longer a traitor," Norman said with a laugh.

In five years as the head coach at Cape Central, Norman was 41- 23. The Tigers advanced to the Class 4 semifinals the past three seasons and were the runner-up to Webb City in 2014.

Norman takes over at Lindbergh after Tom Beauchamp's contract was not renewed in December after 21 years at the helm of the Flyers. Beauchamp led Lindbergh to its seven playoff appearances and a Class 6 runner-up finish in 2002. …
