ADOCTOR concerned about obesity among patients at the surgery she runs is hoping inspire them towards a healthier lifestyle by taking part in the Great Manchester Run.

Mum-of-two Louise Thompson is hoping patients will join her and husband Glyn Stockton in the 10k run on Sunday, May 22.

The two GPs, whose family surgery is based on Clough Street, Middleton, want to set an example to those they treat on a daily basis.

Louise, from Bramhall, said: "We're hoping to inspire our patients to do some exercise and lead a better lifestyle.

"My speciality as a doctor is obesity and weight management and in Middleton I'm afraid there's lots of people who eat and drink too much.

"Everyone gets complacent and I'm seeing more overweight families and kids and it's quite upsetting really. …
