Boss of Troubled Hospice Is Suspended

THE chief executive of troubled Bury Hospice has been suspended - and a new boss is expected to be installed this week.

Jacqui Comber, who has not been in work for three months, has been relieved of her duties while an independent investigation is carried out into the charity.

Stephen Greenhalgh, who has been in charge of St Catherine's Hospice in Lostock Hall, south Preston, has been asked to be acting chief executive.

The move comes after concerns from the public, staff, and Bury Clinical Commissioning Group about the management and performance of the hospice.

An independent panel , made up of trustees from other hospices will investigate Bury and report to a chairman who will then decide what action is required.

Mr Greenhalgh said: "I have been approached by the board of Bury Hospice with a view to taking over as acting chief executive due to the difficulties that they have encountered. …
