Howzat! Cricket Club Hotel's Furniture Donated to Charity ; ?Lancashire Chiefs Also Hand over Bedding and Appliances as Landmark Building Faces Bulldozer

THE contents of a landmark hotel, which is set to be demolished, are to be donated to charity.

The bulldozers are set to move into Lancashire County Cricket Club's (LCCC) ground this month to knock down the Old Trafford Lodge.

It will make way for the brand new 150-bedroom Hilton Garden Inn that is due to open in 2017.

Staff at the cricket club worked tirelessly over recent days to clear the Lodge of bedding, furniture and other appliances in readiness for the work.

And they will now be handed over to local charities including Stretfordbased Hope Direct and Manchester Dogs' Home.

The club's operations director Anthony Mundy said: "We are moving quickly with our new hotel and we are now ready to commence demolition.

"The Lodge has lots of good quality pieces of furniture that won't be required for the new Hilton Garden Inn hotel, so rather than seeing them go to waste we are delighted that these local charities can make use of them for the fantastic work they do. …
