Environmental Justice Shouldn't Be Put on Hold

I am writing to express my concerns about the Supreme Court's decision to stay the implementation of the Clean Power Plan.

While it is still disconcerting that the Supreme Court would postpone a plan that has potential to save our future generations from the destruction of climate change, this ruling does not overturn the Clean Power Plan or decide the legal merits of the plan itself.

With support from 82 percent of Pennsylvania residents for a strong state plan that meets the federal carbon pollution limits outlined in the federal Clean Power Plan, I have confidence that the plan will continue to move forward.

However, why are the people whose purpose is to bring justice to the United Statesputting justice on hold for citizens?

We have seen the desolation that coal-fired plants have on communities and their surrounding environment right here in Pennsylvania, as in the Cheswick community. …
