The former New York Mets relief pitcher used to seek that call from umpires on every batter he faced, but after the right-hander tested positive three times for performance-enhancing drugs, it's his turn to leave the field - this time forever.

Mr. Mejia's lifetime ban is the first issued to a player under the MLB's drug agreement with the players association. In his latest round, he tested positive for the anabolic steroid Boldenone, which helps build muscle mass.
