DEMAND for the meningitis B vaccine in Greater Manchester has risen since the tragic death of little Faye Burdet.

The two-year-old died on Valentine's Day in Kent after fighting the infection for 11 days.

The jab to protect against one of the most aggressive strains of the disease became available on the NHS for babies in September, but parents who want to have older children vaccinated must pay.

Manchester's clinics are charging between Pounds 130 and Pounds 195 for the vaccine, but with limited supplies available globally, parents are being put on waiting lists as clinics struggle to meet demand.

We surveyed clinics in Greater Manchester to be told by many that they are out of stock and not taking bookings.
