Whiting Loan Eases Injury List for Centurions

LEIGH Centurions have signed Hull FC's Richard Whiting on a two- month loan deal as the injuries begin to mount up at Leigh Sports Village.

Neil Jukes confirmed earlier this week that second-rower, Andrew Dixon and centre, Tom Armstrong, have joined Gregg McNally and Willie Tonga on the long-term injury list - and 31-year-old Whiting can provide cover in both of those positions. The former Featherstone Rovers utility player adds to the wealth of international experience available to Jukes, having been capped three times by England.

The Centurions' head coach admitted his side has been 'decimated' by injuries, particularly across the back line, but insisted it is not a panic-signing for the club.

"To be fair we looked at Richard pre-season and tried to get to a point where we could take him to Lanzarote with us, but at the time it didn't develop," Jukes said. …
