Shelton State's men's basketball team hosted No. 15 Wallace State- Hanceville on sophomore night. The Buccaneers restricted the Lions to XX second half points to pull off an upset over conference- leading Lions 72-60. The Bucs improved to a 19-9 (7-3 Alabama Community College Conference record).

"It feels good," Shelton coach Barry Mohun said. "I was really proud of our guys both halves defending. They run a lot of stuff."

Down 23-36, Shelton came into the second half with new life. The Bucs had a 35-6 run to take a 16-point lead. During that stretch the Bucs held the Lions to just one point over the first 10 minutes of the half. Shelton had a 55 percent field goal percentage in the second half, and held the Lions to just 24 percent.

"That was the biggest thing for us," Marvin Jones said. "We had to clamp down and play defense. They shot 50 percent against us last time so we just had to just play defense, make some stops and get long rebounds."

Shelton began the game with an 18-9 lead, but the Lions retaliated with a 27-5 run to take a 36-23 halftime lead. …
