FORMER ADMINISTRATOR

SARASOTA -- The former Sarasota County administrator at the heart of a widespread procurement scandal won appointment Tuesday to the county's Public Facilities Financing Advisory Board.

County commissioners unanimously, and without discussion, appointed Jim Ley to fill a three-year term on the board as a financial professional.

Ley had submitted his application for the position in late December, having seen the opening on the county website.

Ley listed as his experience the 14 years he had served as county administrator.

According to the county website, the Public Facilities Financing Advisory Board makes "recommendations to the County Commissioners on impact fees, other funding sources, the fiscal impacts of levels of service and other issues relating to the provision and financing of public facilities. …
