Search Warrant Uncovers Guns, 'Significant Amount' of Drugs at Hi- Crest Residence

A tip from a Hi-Crest resident resulted in a search warrant that turned up a "significant amount" of methamphetamines and marijuana Friday, according to Topeka police.

After community policing officer Justin Long received the tip, officers collected evidence and received a warrant to search a residence in the 3200 block of S.E. Humboldt, in the Hi-Crest neighborhood, said Sgt. Robbie Simmons.

Officers executed the search warrant Friday morning and seized what Simmons described as a "significant amount" of drugs, drug paraphernalia and two handguns.

In a news release regarding the warrant's execution, Capt. Mike Cross said the police department's Community Policing Unit began the investigation in January.

Cross said "several persons were taken into custody" in connection with the drug bust. …
