Brandon Knapper connected on 14 of 19 foul shots and finished with 45 points as South Charleston held off George Washington 79-67 Friday night at the SC Community Center in boys basketball. Knapper, who now has 1,693 career points, became the all-time scoring leader for the Black Eagles, surpassing current Herbert Hoover coach Josh Daniel (2002-2006), who finished with 1,660 points.

South Charleston led by just three at the half in the MSAC fifth- place game, but outscored the Patriots 27-18 in the third quarter to pull away. Tamon Scruggs scored 16 points and grabbed 21 rebounds and Dashaun Watkins added 12 points for South Charleston (14-6), which was without starter E.J. Phillips.

For GW (10-9), Bunky Brown buried six 3s for 23 points, Justin Phillips scored 17 and Matt Cook added 10.

Nitro 70, Cabell Midland 59: Austin Woodrum scored 22 points as the Wildcats (7-14) earned the home win. Joel Sweat added 19 points for Nitro, with Landon Roque adding 10. For Midland (2-19), Jovaun Light led the way with 18 points.

Hurricane 66, St. Albans 57: Nick Muto scored 27 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Redskins (8-13) at home. Ryan Midkiff chipped in 13 points for Hurricane, and Braxton Dobert added 12. For St. Albans (10-11), John Klassen led the way with 18 points, with Zack Smith adding 11 and Dujuan Dawson 10.

Poca 60, Charleston Catholic 35: Elijah Cuffee posted 15 points, 12 rebounds and four assists as the Class AA No. 1 Dots rolled to a home win. Luke Frampton tallied 17 points, six rebounds and four assists and Kaden Meeks fired in 14 points for Poca (17-2). Robbie Williams led the Irish (10-9) with 11 points.

Spring Valley 57, Winfield 48: Calvin Hinchman scored 18 points to lead the Timberwolves (7-15) on the road. Chandler Stacey finished with 16 points for Spring Valley, followed by Damien McBride with 12 points. For Winfield (7-14), Peyton Moore scored 13 points.

Tug Valley 92, Valley 42: The Panthers (14-3) jumped to a 35- point halftime lead in cruising to the road win. Tyler May paced Tug with 17 points and Calvin Blankenship added 15. For Valley, Spencer Dean netted 11 points.

Bluefield 64, Greenbrier East 47: Bluefield jumped out to a 16-5 lead after the first quarter as it rolled to a road win. Jeremy Thompson tallied 21 points and Latrell Collier netted 19 for the Beavers (12-5). Seth Brown scored 13 for the Spartans (11-8).

Wyoming East 100, Liberty Raleigh 74: David Carte scored 24 points as Wyoming East picked up a home win. R.J. Folden buried four 3s on his way to 18 points, Logan Blankenship tallied 13, Jonathan Sims 12 and Dylan Brehm 10 for the Warriors (14-3). Dylan Dickens tossed in 24 points, Tyler Sloan 14 and Tanner Cantley 13 for the Raiders.

Fayetteville 86, Richwood 51: Will Fenton scored 19 points and hauled down 16 rebounds as Fayetteville won on the road. …
