Knicks Giving Fredette Another Shot in League

NEW YORK -- While the Knicks came up empty at the trade deadline, they at least appeased the fan base by filling a vacant roster spot with the signing of Jimmer Fredette.

Fredette, inked to a 10-day contract, will join the Knicks on Monday when they return from a two-game trip. That means he will be available for five games before the Knicks must decide whether to keep him.

"He obviously can shoot the basketball," Knicks coach Kurt Rambis said. "That's what he's known for. We've got to see if he can actually handle the basketball and be able to create shots for himself and create shots for others within the team concept.

"It'll be an adjustment for him. It's not going to be an easy transition. Guys are in the D-League, at that point in time they're not NBA ballplayers, so it's a different level when you make this step up here. …
